English for Academic Purposes (EAP)

The English for Academic Purposes(EAP) program consists of seven courses:

  • ENGL 096A
    20 hours per week, for 7 weeks (140 hours)
  • ENGL 096B
    20 hours per week, for 7 weeks (140 hours)
  • ENGL 097A
    20 hours per week, for 7 weeks (140 hours)
  • ENGL 097B
    20 hours per week, for 7 weeks (140 hours)
  • ENGL 098A
    15 hours per week, for 7 weeks (105 hours)
  • ENGL 098B
    15 hours per week, for 7 weeks (105 hours)
  • ENGL 099
    10 hours per week for 14 weeks (140 hours)

Each of these courses is intensive, requiring more than the normal number of classroom hours; integrated to involve academic reading, writing, speaking, listening, vocabulary, and idioms. Each of ENGL 096, 097, 098, and ENGL 099 is completed in one semester. Students taking ENGL 098 are permitted to simultaneously take two academic course if they have the required prerequisites; students taking ENGL 099 may take up to three simultaneous academic courses. If the student is successful, these academic courses are counted for credit toward the student's Associate of Arts degree program.
