April 21, 2008: Breaking News for our Associate of Arts degree program students!
All of us here at Alexander College are delighted with the change in CIC regulations and look forward to welcoming students to our Associate of Arts degree program. Alexander College graduates have a great deal to offer Canada: an excellent command of English, a first-class education and great work/study habits.
"Government of Canada introduces changes to work permits for international students, making Canada more attractive for skilled individuals"
The government of Canada today announced changes to the Post-Graduation Work Permit Program to permit international students graduating from eligible programs to obtain an open work permit. This permit has no restrictions on the type of employment and no requirement for a job offer. In addition, the work permit has been extended to three (3) years.
According to the CIC: "The increased flexibility offered by the expanded program will benefit graduates and employers alike as the program will help international students get important work experience while responding to Canada's labour market needs. Canada will benefit in the long run as the professional experience gained will help graduates meet the requirements to stay permanently in Canada."
